Brief Biography
Dr. K. Fincati obtained her B.S. degree in Biochemistry from the National University of Cordoba in Argentina in 1991. Until 1996 she has worked in biomedical diagnosis, first working at the Laboratory of Biochemistry of the Aeronautical Hospital of Cordoba, and then managing her laboratory of Clinical Biochemistry and Microbiology. From 1996 to 1997 she has worked at the National Institute of Microbiology C. Malbrán (Bs.As, Argentina) where she has worked in virologic diagnosis with molecular techniques. From 1998 to 2001 she has carried out activity of research in molecular biology at the Institute for Genetic Engineering and Molecular Biology (INGEBI) of the University of Buenos Aires. In 2001 she has obtained a Master of Sciences in Molecular Biology and a Genetic Engineering from the University Favaloro (Bs.As). From 2002 to 2005 she has worked in the Department of Histology, Microbiology and Medical Biotechnologies of the University of Padua where she has collaborated in the research plans on the development of adeno/retroviral vectors for gene therapy in tumors. In 2003 she has begun a Doctorate in Virology. The main topic of her research was the applications of microarrays technology in viral infections. At the moment she is a researcher at CIVEN (Coordinamento Interuniversitario Veneto per le Nanotecnologie), which she joined in January 2005. Her work consists in the application of nanotechnology to biological systems, mainly in the development and production of microarrays and biosensors.
