Name: Vania Stoyanova

Degree: Materials Engineering

Brief Biography

Born in 1979 in Sofia (Bulgaria), Vanya Stoyanova graduated in Materials Engineering and Technologies in 2001 at the Technical University of Sofia, Bulgaria, with specialization in Thermal and Thermo-Chemical Treatments of Materials. Hers graduation thesis investigated the properties of Cr-Mn-Mo low alloyed PM steels after sintering and secondary heat treatments, in cooperation with IMS - BAS (Institut of Materials Science - Bulgarian Academy of Science) as a part of the NATO Project Science for Piece "Manganese Powder".
From November 2001 to March 2005 she attended a PhD course in Materials Engineering at the University of Trento, Italy. The main topic of hers research was a study of the effect of sintering and secondary heat treatments on materials behaviour of low alloyed high density PM steels. This study was carried out within the framework of the International Project "Höganäs Chair in Powder Metallurgy - Second Round".
Since February 2005 she is a researcher at CIVEN (Coordinamento Interuniversitario VEneto per le Nanotecnologie). Hers work consists mainly in the consolidation of micro- and nanostructured metallic powders by using a HVC (High Velocity Compaction) machine and consecutive sintering (protective atmosphere/vacuum for the iron and high vacuum for the titanium based materials) and characterization of the green and as sintered parts.
